from one generation to the next

...in my aunt's kitchen, a crowd of women volunteer marriage advises and random flashbacks of a distant time where life was simpler and less demanding. I sat and listen like a good novice, which I am not. Smile and nod.

My aunt turns to me, "So ahkera, when will you be married?" "When I am ready" I said. The women turns to one another and tops previous stories with more elaborated flashbacks. My mom then rolls her eyes toward me as if suddenly reminded of something, then turns her whole head at me, "Hoy, I don't know when I'll become a grandmother." "When I am married and has a house." I said and walked out the kitchen...

*starting to get annoyed with kitchen talks*
